PH tourism job fair in Cagayan de Oro on March 30-31

The Department of Tourism (DOT)-Northern Mindanao, in partnership with the region's Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), is set to launch the "Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso!" Philippine tourism job fair on March 30 to 31, 2023, at the Limketkai Atrium in Cagayan de Oro City. 

This DOT flagship program aims to help Filipinos secure employment while assisting the tourism sector to revitalize its workforce from the losses brought about by the pandemic.

It also intends to respond to the manpower needs of the tourism industry, provide a platform for employment opportunities from the tourism sector, assist jobseekers and displaced workers, and fill the gaps in job vacancies in tourism and allied industries. 

"We gather the job opportunities in one area so that the jobseekers will not have a hard time looking for a job, but all of the jobs that are available in our industry will be in one place," DOT-10 Regional Director Marie Elaine Unchuan said during the press conference on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

"So far we already have 11 from the Cagayan de Oro hotel and restaurant association that expressed interest to participate [in the job fair]. DOLE is really helping us in getting the other employers to populate our booth," she added. 

According to Unchuan, they are aiming for 50 employers and more than 500 participants for the said tourism job fair. 

The regional tourism department is also expecting thousands of job seekers to flock to Cagayan de Oro for the job fair. 

Tourism-related job opportunities available at the "Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso!" Philippine tourism job fair include positions in administration, accounting, marketing, human resource, front office, support staff, MICE operators, food and beverages, kitchen or food production, and housekeeping. 

Job seekers should prepare their resume, application letter, 2x2 ID picture, and additional copies of each item. They should also prepare more if they intend to apply for several companies and positions. 

Job applicants must also have a pen with them, especially if the employers want them to fill out forms.
